The Pilot plant facilities is located at Room 7D302 (about 145 square meters), Shaw Biotechnology Building, Xinzhuang Campus, Nanjing Forestry University, Nanjing. It is used in teaching activities of the comprehensive experiment of food technology, the experiment of food storage and preservation and graduation design. It is designed to accommodate 32 students. The laboratory provides the equipment, instruments and glassware required for the above courses. Key equipment is high pressure homogenizer, freeze dryer, spray dryer and plate and frame filter press. The total value of instruments and equipment is more than 800,000 RMB. The laboratory mainly serves for teaching and research, and its main teaching objects are food science and engineering students. At present, the laboratory undertakes three national college students' innovation training project, six provincial college students' innovation training projects, and eight university students' innovation training projects. In this laboratory, students can use the equipment related to food processing and storage, master the working principle and usage of the equipment, and can correctly use the equipment to carry out food processing and preservation experiments safely and effectively. Students' experimental operation skills, comprehensive analysis and problem-solving ability are cultivated, which can lay a good foundation for their future engaged in food processing.  


This is the front view of the lab. In this laboratory, students carried out the quick freezing technology experiment of fruits and vegetables, the processing technology experiment of fruit can, the processing technology experiment of fruit juice beverage, the processing technology experiment of vegetable pickling, the processing technology experiment of bread, cake and biscuit, the processing technology experiment of tofu, the processing technology experiment of meat floss and so on. In addition, students also can carry out the ripening fruit and vegetable, the preservation of fresh cut fruit and vegetable, and the preservation experiments egg coating.


This is the main equipment in the Pilot plant facilities. In this lab, there are beaters, blenders, wake boxes and ovens for processing cakes, breads and biscuits; there are beaters, colloid mills, homogenizers and sterilizers for fruit and vegetable beverage processing; there are freeze drier, spray dryer and vacuum packing machine for fruit powder processing; there are plate and frame presses for filtering, and fryers for deep-fried food processing. There are granulator and tablet press for fruit and vegetable chewable tablet. In addition, there is a low temperature plasma treatment system for fruit and vegetable storage.
